J’espère que vous allez bien. Je vous retrouve aujourd’hui pour vous parler de Jaded de Lex Easton que je remercie pour ce SP. J’ai découvert Lex Easton il y a un an avec Rookie Recovery, qu’elle a co écrit avec Jemma Croft et que j’avais adoré.
Résumé :
Hockey prodigy Nat Taylor should’ve followed his father and brother to the NHL, but a dream-shattering mistake cost him his career. Now at thirty-five, he’s desperate to give his teenage daughter a better life while struggling to hold onto his job as a Zamboni driver for the failing Day River Dingoes. FR- Alors alors…. alors j’avais hâte de découvrir ce roman étant donné que j’avais adoré Rookie Recovery.
Encore une romance sur le hockey et j’avoue que l’avoir enchainé avec le roman d’Amy Aislin n’était peut etre pas la meilleure idée que j’ai eu. Mais j’ai l’impression que c’était le thème de mon mois de mai, enchainer deux lectures sur le même thème.
J’ai cependant passé un très très bon moment avec Jaded.
La plume de Lex Easton est vraiment très agréable et fluide et je me suis énormément attachée aux personnages. J’ai trouvé qu’ils étaient très bien construits et que l’auteure allait vraiment en profondeur avec leurs qualités et leurs défauts.
Comme son titre l’indique Jaded n’est pas que arc en ciel et petits oiseaux.
Lex Easton nous livre des personnages fragiles, abimés par la vie et dont la part sombre n’est jamais mise de coté. J’ai trouvé vraiment intéressant le parti pris et le fait que ses personnages changent un peu de ce qu’on à l’habitude de lire dans les romances.
Le monde du hockey est bien présent, il y a même des séances d’entrainement et de jeux décrites (ce qui n’est pas toujours le cas dans les romances sur le hockey) et j’ai beaucoup aimé tout ce qui concerne la Ice Out.
Jaded est le premier tome d’une série qui change des romances de hockey habituelles.
Lex Easton nous livre un roman touchant et poignant, des personnages qui luttent pour s’en sortir et qui ne font pas toujours les meilleurs choix. Une ville aussi dure que ses habitants mais auxquels on s’attache très rapidement.
En résumé, une série dont il me tarde de découvrir les autres tomes.
ENG-So well well well…well I was really looking forward to this novel since I loved Rookie Recovery.
Another hockey romance, and I admit that following it up with Amy Aislin’s novel wasn’t the best idea I’ve had. But I feel like that was my theme for May: reading two books on the same theme.
However, I had a really, really good time with Jaded.
Lex Easton’s writing is truly enjoyable and fluid, and I grew extremely attached to the characters. I found them very well-developed and that the author really delved into their strengths and weaknesses.
As the title suggests, Jaded isn’t all rainbows and sunshine.
Lex Easton delivers fragile characters, damaged by life, whose dark side is never overlooked. I found the approach and the fact that her characters are a bit different from what we’re used to reading in romance novels really interesting.
The world of hockey is very present; there are even training sessions and games described (which isn’t always the case in hockey romances), and I really enjoyed everything about the Ice Out.
Jaded is the first book in a series that’s a departure from the usual hockey romances.
Lex Easton delivers a touching and poignant novel, featuring characters struggling to survive and not always making the best choices. A city as tough as its inhabitants, but one to whom we quickly become attached.
In short, a series whose other volumes I can’t wait to discover.
