Salut mes p’tits chats!!!

I think I’m falling for my bodyguard co-worker. Now I need protection… from myself.

As a former SEAL intelligence officer, I’m supposed to be smart. Unfortunately, those smarts don’t apply to love. I did a nice thing and took my heartbroken fellow bodyguard out for a Valentine’s dinner. Just us bros. But my plan worked a little too well, and a night that ended with a scorching kiss has turned into the most awkward morning at the office ever. Now we’re working together as bodyguards on a remote mountain movie shoot. And we’re roommates.

I’ve never been attracted to a guy before, but something about Avery calls to every protective instinct I have. We’re not dating, but every night alone together, I fall a little deeper. It’s also Avery’s first time with a guy too, and while we’re both enjoying all sorts of new things together, I worry my heart will be broken when we return to civilization.

No matter how badly this may end, I can’t seem to stop wanting Avery. All of him. I want to see who he’ll become if he ever manages to get out of his own way. I want to be his biggest cheerleader, best friend, and the guy he comes home to. But going from secret hookup to forever after is a big ask. Are we both brave enough to take the leap?

ENG- So, well well well…as I said in my review of volume 3, I find that this series is improving. If I hadn’t particularly liked the first two volumes (be careful, I found them good but slightly below what Annabeth Albert usually offers ) I really enjoyed volume 3 and found the desire to read more volumes in this series. And this volume 4 is simply the icing on the cake. I liked it even more than volume 3. However, if you’ve read my last review, lately I haven’t really been in « sex scene » mode anymore… and this 4th volume is hot. Very hot. Very very hot. And I loved every page of it. Each sex scene brings something to the story, they are all natural and important and never seems out of the blue. Each intimate moment between Avery and Malik takes them further on the path of their discovery of themselves and of the other.

Most of the novel takes place almost behind closed doors and is focused on Malik and Avery and their relationship. There isn’t much else of importance and their mission and the movie making seem almost anecdotal as the first part of the novel focuses on the interactions between Malik and Avery. And as I said above, I loved every bit of it.

The second part opens up the story a bit more to outside elements and other characters and it was also very interesting to see the heroes interact with their families and friends.

I particularly appreciated the fact that there is no drama, no false problems and that even if everything is not all right the first time, the characters evolve rather quickly and focus on their couple more than about what people might think about it.

I really liked the characters in this book. Whether it’s Malik or Avery who are very different but who will learn from each other and evolve together. I liked Malik’s maturity, his entourage and his origins. I also liked Avery’s spontaneity and innocence. And the two together make sparks.

In summary, a fourth volume which is clearly for me the best of the series. A volume not to be missed!
