J’espère que vous allez bien. Je vous retrouve aujourd’hui pour vous parler de Walking on Broken Paths de Amy Aislin que je remercie pour ce SP. Il s’agit d’un stand alone mais qui raconte l’histoire de Jesse que l’on a déjà croisé dans d’autres romans de l’auteure.
Résumé :
Desperate to escape the pain of his brother’s death, Jesse Melnik ran—but he couldn’t outrun the grief, no matter how much distance he put between himself and his past. Now, after fifteen years of trying, he’s finally ready to face his hometown of Charlottetown again.
He expects the memories of his brother to hover in every corner of his family’s sailboat and whisper in every sea-tinged breeze.
What he doesn’t expect is Parker Willis, the best friend he left behind without a word the day he fled.
And he certainly doesn’t expect old feelings to resurface.
Parker’s been stuck in a rut since his father died three months ago. Every day is the same: try to keep his father’s dinner cruise business afloat so he can chip away at Dad’s debts, all while working a job that leaves him more frustrated than satisfied.
Then Parker’s routine shatters in the best way possible: Jesse Melnik returns to Prince Edward Island for the summer, all six feet three inches of gorgeous hockey player.
Now, that’s different.
Jesse kickstarts Parker’s heart.
Parker makes Jesse feel again.
And although both men are a little bit damaged from struggling down the broken path of loss, maybe—just maybe—if they can lean on each other, they’ll learn to move forward at last.
FR- Alors alors…. alors une fois de plus, Amy Aislin nous livre un roman touchant.
Comme je le dis à chaque fois, j’adore les romans d’Amy Aislin et celui ci ne fait pas exception à la règle. J’ai passé un excellent moment de lecture avec Walking on Broken Paths. Et honnêtement, sachant que j’ai un mal fou à lire en ce moment ça en dit beaucoup sur la qualité de ce roman.
J’ai énormément aimé les personnages.
Je n’ai pas lu les précédents romans dans lesquels apparait Jesse mais ça ne m’a pas du tout gênée pour ma lecture de ce roman. Comme toujours Amy Aislin nous livre des personnages sincères et intenses et on ne peut que ressentir toutes leurs émotions avec eux.
Le thème du deuil est central dans ce roman.
J’ai aimé que Jesse et Parker en soient à des stades différents de leur deuil et qu’ils puissent s’apporter énormément l’un à l’autre. Leur relation est à la fois très simple et magnifique et on ressent tout l’amour qu’ils ont l’un pour l’autre depuis toujours ainsi que celui qu’ils portent à leur famille.
Encore une fois, Amy Aislin réussit un roman touchant et juste.
Tout est juste, fort, touchant. C’est un roman qui parle du deuil certes, mais qui parle aussi d’amour, d’espoir, de nouveau depart, d’avancer malgré les erreurs passées et j’ai aimé qu’à aucun moment l’auteure n’utilise le deuil de Jesse comme une excuse à son passé. Ce n’est pas une histoire de rédemption mais comment aller de l’avant, devenir meilleur et faire mieux.
En résumé, Walking on broken paths est encore un excellent roman d’une excellente auteure.

As I always say, I love Amy Aislin’s novels, and this one is no exception. I had a wonderful time reading Walking on Broken Paths. And honestly, knowing that I’m having a terrible time reading at the moment says a lot about the quality of this novel.
I really liked the characters.
I haven’t read the previous novels featuring Jesse, but that didn’t hinder me at all when reading this one. As always, Amy Aislin delivers sincere and intense characters, and we can’t help but feel all their emotions with them.
Grief is central to this novel.
I loved that Jesse and Parker are at different stages of their grief and that they can offer so much to each other. Their relationship is both simple and beautiful, and we feel all the love they’ve always had for each other, as well as the love they have for their family.
Once again, Amy Aislin has created a touching and honest novel.
Everything is true, powerful, and touching. It’s a novel that speaks of grief, of course, but also of love, hope, new beginnings, and moving forward despite past mistakes. I liked that at no point does the author use Jesse’s grief as an excuse for her past. It’s not a story of redemption, but rather about moving forward, becoming better, and doing better.
In summary, Walking on Broken Paths is yet another excellent novel by an excellent author.
