Bonjour à tous!
Encore une chronique pour un roman court. Celui ci est resté un bon moment dans ma PAL et je l’ai lu en quelques heures après l’en avoir sorti car il est également extrêmement court. C’est clairement un premier tome de trilogie avec une fin en cliffhanger aussi ma chronique va être assez courte. Résumé :

Joel is happy, confident and working class.
Eric is shy, insecure and a member of one of the oldest aristocratic families in Europe.
When they meet in university sparks fly.
They say opposites attract, but when Joel discovers that Eric is the crown prince and future king of Doggerland, he starts having doubts.
They want to get married. They think their greatest battle will be convincing the King and the Prime Minister to give their consent. But estranged relatives coming out of the woodwork, intrusive tabloid press, and the traditional, stifling lifestyle of the aristocracy conspire against them.
Are Joel and Eric secure enough in themselves and each other to overcome a world which is not as tolerant as they thought?
FR- Alors alors… alors j’aime beaucoup les romans YA ou New Adult étant donné qu’ils sont à la fac dans celui ci et le sujet me plaisait bien. En plus le roman se passe en Angleterre et j’ai un faible pour les romans se passant là bas. Donc pleins de points positifs pour commencer ma lecture…
Cependant, je préfère attendre la suite de la série avant de me faire un avis définitif. Je suis assez partagée parce que je n’ai pas spécialement aimé ce roman, sans le détester non plus et je suis clairement incapable de lui mettre plus que 3 coeurs aujourd’hui. MAIS je lirai la suite et je dois même dire que j’attend la suite avec impatience parce que j’en ai vraiment besoin pour me faire un avis définitif sur cette série.
L’histoire est exclusivement du point de vue de Joel. C’est un personnage que j’aime beaucoup même si parfois ses réactions m’ont semblé bizarre. Certains points vont très vite, trop vite. Comme cette demande en mariage après deux rendez vous. Comme le fait qu’il laisse complètement tomber son meilleur pote du jour au lendemain.
Certains aspects par contre sont très bien traités. Les différences de vie et de statut entre Joel et Eric. La famille d’Eric, son « attaché de presse » . La famille de Joel. Il y a plusieurs aspects de ce roman que j’ai beaucoup aimé mais plusieurs qui m’ont fait lever les yeux au ciel. Après il faut aussi reconnaître qu’il s’agit de jeunes adultes et que leurs réactions ne sont pas toujours logiques comme souvent à cet âge là.
Je ne sais pas trop à quoi m’attendre pour les prochains tomes mais j’en attends cependant énormément pour me faire un avis définitif sur la série.
La plume de l’auteur est agréable et les pages s’enchaînent sans soucis.. mais la fin est vraiment un cliffhanger .. vivement la suite.
ENG- So well well well … well I really like the novels YA or New Adult since they are in college in this one and the subject pleased me well. In addition the novel takes place in England and I have a weakness for novels happening there. So many positive points to start reading …
However, I prefer to wait for the rest of the series before making a final opinion. I am quite divided because I did not particularly like this novel, without hating it either and I am clearly unable to put more than 3 hearts to it today. BUT I will read the rest and I must even say that I am impatiently awaiting the rest because I really need it to give me a final opinion on this series.
The story is exclusively from Joel’s point of view. He is a character that I like very much even if sometimes his reactions seemed strange to me. Some points go very fast, too fast. Like this marriage proposal after two meetings. Like the fact that he completely drops his best friend overnight.
Certain aspects, on the other hand, are very well treated. The differences in life and status between Joel and Eric. Eric’s family, his « press officer ». Joel’s family. There are several aspects of this novel that I liked very much but several that made me roll my eyes. Then we must also recognize that these are young adults and that their reactions are not always logical as often at this age.
I do not know what to expect for the next volumes but I expect a lot, however, to make me a final opinion on the series.
The author’s pen is nice and the pages are linked without worrying .. but the end is really a cliffhanger .. I can’t wait for volume 2
