J’espère que vous allez bien! Je vous retrouve aujourd’hui avec la chronique du deuxieme tome de la nouvelle série d’Annabeth Albert intitulée Safe Harbor. Vous pouvez d’ailleurs retrouver ma chronique du tome 1 ici. Cette série est en auto édition et je tiens à remercier l’auteure pour cet ARC de Make me Stay. Résumé :

Roommate Not Wanted

FR- Alors alors…. alors j’avais énormément aimé le premier tome de cette série et je pense que l’attente que j’avais mis dans ce tome 2 et la fatigue ont eu raison de moi. J’ai eu un mal fou à entrer dans ma lecture et à m’attacher aux personnages. La plume de l’auteure et l’histoire n’y sont pour rien. On retrouve vraiment tous les éléments que j’avais aimé dans le premier tome et j’ai adoré retrouver les personnages du tome 1. Je suis super impatiente aux tomes 3 dont les personnages m’intriguent beaucoup plus, je dois l’avouer, que ceux du tome 2.

Pourtant j’ai aimé découvrir l’histoire de Cal. J’ai trouvé cependant qu’on restait plutot en surface pour ce qui concerne Holden. Son accident est vite décrit et on ne découvre pas vraiment qui il est si ce n’est à travers ce qu’en dit Cal et une petite discussion sur la fin du roman entre Holden et ses amis.

La romance est vraiment torride, comme c’est souvent le cas avec Annabeth Albert et j’ai bien aimé ces scenes même si, la fatigue aidant, j’ai sauté une scène de sexe. Pour me délecter de celle d’apres… la fatigue… rien à voir avec la plume de l’auteure.

Donc légère déception pour moi mais comme je vous le disais, entièrement de ma faute car ce roman comporte tous les éléments qu’on aime dans un roman d’Annabeth. Des héros forts mais blessés, des scènes de sexe torrides à souhait, des amis qui forment une famille de coeur aussi importante que la famille de sang. Un petit village où les gens sont ouverts et bienveillants, et une intrigue qui sert de fil rouge à la série. Sans oublier les hommes en uniforme (même s’ils sont à la retraite) qui nous font tant rêver.

ENG- So well well well… wellI really liked the first book of this series and I think that the expectation that I had put in book 2 and the fatigue got the better of me. I had a hard time getting into my reading and getting attached to the characters. The pen of the author and the story have nothing to do with it. We really find all the elements that I liked in the first book and I loved finding the characters of book 1. I can’t wait for book 3 whose characters intrigue me much more, I must admit, than those of this one.

Still, I enjoyed discovering Cal’s story. I found however that we remained rather on the surface as far as Holden is concerned. His accident is quickly described and we don’t really discover who he is except through what Cal says about him and a little discussion about the end of the novel between Holden and his friends.

The romance is really torrid, as is often the case with Annabeth Albert and I really liked these scenes even if, due to fatigue, I skipped a sex scene. To revel in the one after… fatigue… nothing to do with the pen of the author.

So slight disappointment for me but as I told you, entirely my fault because this novel has all the elements we love in a novel by Annabeth. Strong but wounded heroes, steamy sex scenes, friends who form a found family as important as blood family. A small town where people are open and benevolent, and a plot that serves as the thread of the series. Without forgetting the men in uniform (even if they are retired) who make us dream so much.
