J’espère que vous allez bien. Je vous retrouve aujourd’hui pour vous parler de Bright Dead Things de Hailey Turner. Je tiens à remercier Valentine PR pour ce SP. Il s’agit d’un nouveau roman de l’auteure, qui a annoncé une duologie.

FR- Alors alors…. alors j’adore la plume d’Hailey Turner et j’avais vraiment hâte de lire ce roman.

Bright Dead Things est le premier tome de ce qui est annoncé comme une duologie. On retourne sur de l’Urban fantasy, axé sur le folklore celte et plus particulièrement irlandais. Ce n’est pas le folklore que je connais le mieux mais étant donné qu’elle l’avait déjà abordé dans sa série Dettes de Sang je n’ai pas été trop perdue.

J’ai beaucoup aimé ma lecture.

Avec Dead Bright Things, on retrouve ce qui fait le succès d’Hailey Turner : des personnages attachants et très bien développés, des sentiments très forts et un univers parfaitement maitrisé. J’ai beaucoup aimé ce que l’auteure nous propose et la façon dont on va, doucement mais surement s’enfoncer dans le coté fantasy de l’histoire.

La relation entre Cillian et Bran est vraiment belle et même si j’ai trouvé que parfois Bran était un peu trop vindicatif, j’ai beaucoup aimé leur dynamique. Une fois de plus, les personnages secondaires sont très intéressant et j’espère qu’ils seront encore plus développés dans le prochain tome.

Bien que Dette de Sang soit une de mes séries préférées, avec Bright Dead Things, Hailey Turner nous propose une Urban Fantasy totalement différente, plus accès sur les Fae et la nature. J’ai beaucoup aimé cette ambiance. Le fait que l’histoire se déroule entre Pelham (qui est une petite ville isolée entourée de forêts) et l’Otherwolrd (désolée je n’ai pas la trad de ce mot) renforce cette différence avec Dette de Sang qui est beaucoup plus urbain.

Les choix de l’auteure concernant les personnages et l’univers sont particulièrement interessant

J’ai trouvé particulièrement intéressants les choix de l’auteure concernant ses personnages et les révélations qu’elle sème tout au long de l’histoire. Comme tout premier tome, Bright Dead Things met en place l’univers et les personnages et j’ai trouvé qu’Hailey Turner réussissait bien son paris en nous donnant suffisamment d’information pour bien comprendre les règles de son univers tout en laissant la place à l’action.

J’ai particulièrement aimé sa version des Fae et le personnage de Cillian. J’ai vraiment hâte de lire ce qu’Hailey Turner nous réserve dans le deuxième tome.

En résumé, un premier tome introductif d’une série qui promet d’être excellente.

ENG-So, so… so, I love Hailey Turner’s writing style and I was really looking forward to reading this novel.

Bright Dead Things is the first volume of what’s being billed as a duology. It’s back to urban fantasy, focused on Celtic, and more specifically Irish, folklore. It’s not the folklore I’m most familiar with, but since she’d already explored it in Soulbound series, I wasn’t too lost.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

With Dead Bright Things, we find what makes Hailey Turner so successful: engaging and well-developed characters, powerful emotions, and a perfectly crafted world. I loved what the author offers and the way we’re gradually drawn into the fantasy aspect of the story.

The relationship between Cillian and Bran is truly beautiful, and even though I sometimes found Bran a little too vindictive, I really enjoyed their dynamic. Once again, the secondary characters are very interesting, and I hope they will be further developed in the next book.

Although Soulbound is one of my favorite series, with Bright Dead Things, Hailey Turner offers us a completely different kind of urban fantasy, more focused on the Fae and nature. I really loved this atmosphere. The fact that the story takes place between Pelham (which is a small, isolated town surrounded by forests) and the Otherworld reinforces this difference from Soulbound, which is much more urban.

The author’s choices regarding the characters and the world are particularly interesting.

I found the author’s choices regarding her characters and the revelations she subtly weaves throughout the story particularly compelling. Like any first volume, Bright Dead Things establishes the world and the characters, and I felt Hailey Turner succeeded admirably by providing enough information to fully grasp the rules of her universe while still leaving room for action.

I especially loved her portrayal of the Fae and the character of Cillian. I’m really looking forward to reading what Hailey Turner has in store for us in the second volume.
