J’espère que vous allez bien!! Pour ma part ça va plutot bien car je suis en vacances demain soir. Et oui, cette année j’ai coupé mes vacances d’été en deux et après deux semaines de road trip intensif au Royaume Unis en juin, je m’apprete à passer deux semaines plutot coolos à Brest au mois de septembre.

Je vous retrouve aujourd’hui pour la chronique de The Charmer le 4eme et dernier tome de la série The Vers Podcast de Riley Hart que j’ai eu l’honneur de recevoir en ARC. Merci beaucoup à l’auteure. If you listen to The Vers, a queer podcast I host with my three best friends, you know me as The Charmer. I’m always happy, flirting, and trying to win everyone over. I think most people would be surprised to learn I have a lot more going on beneath the surface.

But ever since all my friends have fallen in love, it’s getting more difficult not to feel left out…

Cue my fascination with Spencer, my neighbor who hates me. There’s something addicting about getting under his skin, and I blame the combination of my confusing emotions and too many drinks for spilling my guts to him about all my insecurities…and about how much I love cuddling.

Turns out, Spencer doesn’t hate me, and my word vomit is the catalyst that makes us decide to be cuddle buddies. When I need affection, I go to him, and he just…holds me. Along the way we become friends, and when I fall for him, it’s surprising that he feels the same. Spencer’s easy to talk to, fun to be around, and did I mention he’s hot? I love how confident he is in his full figure, and there’s nothing like being in his beefy arms.

Spencer has me wanting more for the first time in my life, and he’s determined to help with my disordered eating, but if I want a healthy future with him, I need to work toward being healthy for myself too.

FR- Alors alors… alors comme je l’ai déjà surement dit dans mes chroniques des tomes précédents, The Vers Podcast est clairement ma série préférée de l’auteure.

J’avais eu un coup de coeur pour le tome 2 et je dois dire qu’il vient de se reproduire sur le tome 4. Sachant qu’on n’en avait été vraiment pas loin pour les tomes 1 et 3.

Comme l’annonce l’auteure au début du roman, ce n’est pas vraiment un roman « angoissant » mais il y a quelques passages un peu plus difficiles selon les sensibilités. Personnellement, je n’ai pas vraiment de trigger warning mais je dois avouer que les passages traitant de grossophobie m’ont touchée.

Mais comme dans les tomes précédents, j’ai adoré ma lecture. S’agissant du dernier tome, on connait déjà Corbin à travers les autres personnages et notamment à travers Marcus qui est son meilleur ami et qui est le personnage principal du 3eme tome. J’avais hâte de voir ce que l’auteure avait en réserve pour son Charmer et j’étais plutot intriguée par le personnage de Spencer.

J’ai beaucoup aimé ce premier chapitre qui permet de tout de suite s’attacher à Spencer. D’ailleurs c’est un point récurrent de la série. Même si le personnage principal est un des gars du Vers Podcast, on s’attache très très vite à leurs amoureux et il n’y pas vraiment de situation où il devient l’antagoniste.

Comme pour les précédents tomes, les thèmes abordés sont différents et très bien traité. J’ai beaucoup aimé la façon dont Corbin va se rapprocher de Spencer et qu’il n’y ai jamais de jugement de la part de ce dernier. De la même manière, Corbin est très très touchant et très doux. Il a le coeur sur la main et on a envie de le prendre dans nos bras et de le protéger.

J’ai adoré retrouver toute la bande, que ça soit les Vers ou leurs Podies, chacun avec sa personnalité et son caractère. Cette famille de coeur est vraiment très forte et touchante et j’ai adoré les voir ensemble.

Encore une fois, la famille de sang des personnages principaux n’est pas en reste et là aussi, l’auteure nous propose des familles différentes de celles des autres personnages.

En résumé une excellente série, des personnages très attachants, des thèmes forts et bien traités… Bref un quatrième tome largement à la hauteur des précédents.

ENG – So well well well… well as I have probably already said in my previoius reviews The Vers Podcast is clearly my favorite series by the author.

I fell in love with book 2 and I must say that it just happened again in book 4. Knowing that we really hadn’t gotten far from it for books 1 and 3.

As the author announces at the beginning of the novel, it is not really a « angsty » novel but there are some passages that are a little more difficult depending on one’s sensibilities. Personally, I don’t really have a trigger warning but I must admit that the passages dealing with fatphobia touched me.

But as in the previous books, I loved reading it. As it is the last book , we already know Corbin through the other characters and in particular through Marcus who is his best friend and who is the main character of the 3rd book . I couldn’t wait to see what the author had in store for her Charmer and I was quite intrigued by Spencer.

I really liked this first chapter which allows you to immediately become attached to Spencer. Besides, it’s a recurring point in the series. Even if the main character is one of the guys from the Vers Podcast, we quickly become attached to their lovers and there isn’t really a situation where they become the antagonist.

As with the previous books, the themes covered are different and very well covered. I really liked the way Corbin will get closer to Spencer and that there is never any judgment from the latter. In the same way, Corbin is very, very touching and very sweet. He wears his heart on his sleeve and we want to take him in our arms and protect him.

I loved seeing the whole gang again, whether it was the Verses or their Podies, each with their own personality and character. This found family is really very strong and touching and I loved seeing them together.

Once again, the blood family of the main characters is not left out and here too, the author offers us families different from those of the other characters.

In summary, an excellent series, very endearing characters, strong and well-treated themes… In short, a fourth book largely on par with the previous ones.
