Salut mes p’tits chats!!

Jeremy
Seeing my best friend West, happy with his fiancé opened my eyes to things I’ve been missing in my own marriage. My divorce, which was amicable, followed. Strangely, at West’s wedding, I find myself confiding in Darren, the straight, confirmed bachelor and star quarterback of the Atlanta Lightning. Darren is a full-steam-ahead kind of guy, and one talk leads to hanging out, swapping phone numbers, and pranking West and Anson while they’re on their honeymoon. When I head back to California, I expect our chats to end, but I couldn’t be more wrong.

Darren
I still can’t say how it happened, how a random decision to strike up a conversation with Jeremy turned into…whatever this is. All I know is, months later, my days aren’t complete until we tell each other good night. Whether it’s on our calls or when he flies to Atlanta, we talk about everything, lying awake together half the night. Jeremy’s got me feeling…different. If it was just my newly discovered bisexuality, that’d be one thing. I’m not one to stress about being into a man for the first time. It’s the other stuff, the way he makes my pulse race and my heart swell, that’s throwing me for a loop.

I didn’t think I was made for relationships, but I want it all with him. Except, it feels like as soon as we make it past one obstacle, there’s an even bigger one waiting for us. We just have to keep our heads in the game and our eyes on the prize, to make it to the end zone, before one last tackle takes us down for good.

ENG- So well well well…. well I really liked the first volume of this series, it is also one of my favorite novels of the year. I loved the characters and the story of this first volume so much that I wasn’t particularly expecting a sequel. I really liked the characters of Jeremy and Darren who are respectively the best friends of Weston and Anson the characters of volume 1. I was a little afraid that the author leaves a little in the same kind of story as the first volume given that we stay in the same universe, but not at all. I should have had more confidence in the author.

I was quite curious to find out about Jeremy and Darren’s story and loved it.

I found the rhythm of the novel to be really good. Once again Riley Hart gives us an excellent novel. The universe, already used in volume 1, takes a different turn because of Darren’s career, which is different from Anson’s.

Jeremy is also different from Weston. I liked that the 4 men were very close while being completely different. I really liked the relationship between them. I liked that everyone had a special relationship with the other 3. I liked that we also often have passages with West and Anson and I liked seeing Jeremy and Darren so involved in the West association.

Regarding the relationship between Jeremy and Darren, I liked the way the author takes the time to bring things about, how they will go from knowing to friends and then to lovers in a natural way. Things flow naturally and there is no moment when you say to yourself « uh … this is weird … » as it can sometimes be the case in GayforYou. I liked the whole journey of Darren. I like when the authors make me discover new facets of different sexualities. I have found that the way Darren acts is very well approached and very well treated.

I also really liked the character of Jeremy. He has not had an easy life, but the author never falls for pathos. The novel addresses several themes such as homosexuality or bisexuality in the world of sport, the acceptance of oneself, and the fact of finding one’s way. Each time, the author aims right and remains in restraint and modesty while developing her themes well.

In summary, a very, very good novel from an author who never disappoints me. A duology to discover without further delay.
