Down Low (Down Home #1) de Parker St John

j’espère que vous allez bien, pour ma part ça va super bien et uje vous retrouve aujourd’hui avec le roman de Parker St John , une auteure que j’aime beaucoup et que je suis super contente de retrouver. Je pensais que son prochain roman serait le suivant dans sa série Cabrini Law mais non, on change totalement de registre, exit les avocats bienvenue aux cowboys, et si vous me suivez vous savez que ce n’est pas pour me déplaire. Il s’agit donc de Down Low, le premier tome de la série Down Home, toujours en auto édition. Résumé:

FR – Alors alors… alors j’adore les cowboys. J’adore les romans avec des cowboys, avec des cowboys qui font du rodéo ou des cowboys dans des ranch. Ici, on a les deux. Ajoutez à ça un premier amour contrarié, un fils de pasteur, une petite ville, une famille brisée, un neveu super mignon… bref… tous les ingrédients pour que je craque. Et bien sur j’ai craqué. Je l’ai dévoré. J’ai adoré adoré adoré. Si j’aimais déjà énormément les romans de cette auteure, je dois dire que le thème de celui là le met un cran au dessus.

J’ai retrouvé tout ce que j’aime dans les romans de l’auteure : la plume si entrainante ; les personnages très bien travaillés, profonds, touchants sans jamais tomber dans les clichés. L’humour présent par petites touches qui tombent toujours au bon moment. Les sentiments très bien développés, toujours justes et jamais dans l’excès. Et c’est ce que j’aime le plus avec cette auteure. La pudeur, la retenue des personnages mais également la force de leurs sentiments, de leurs actions, de leur caractère. Ils sont intenses. Entiers. Profonds. Extrêmement touchants. Mais toujours justes.

Cal est tout simplement génial. C’est un personnage que j’ai adoré. Je me suis énormément attachée à lui et j’ai beaucoup aimé le fait qu’il ai aussi des défauts et qu’Eli soit là pour lui faire réaliser qu’il n’a pas le monopole de la souffrance. Au delà de l’histoire d’amour entre Eli et Cal c’est aussi l’histoire d’amour entre Cal et sa ville natale, ses habitants. C’est pardonner les erreurs passées, trouver la rédemption mais aussi pardonner.

J’ai vraiment aimé les themes abordés. J’ai souffert avec Cal mais j’ai également ressenti tout un tas d’émotions . Une fois de plus, Parker Saint John nous livre là un très bon roman, une nouvelle série qui s’annonce aussi excellente que la précédente. Vivement le tome 2.

ENG- So well well well… well I love cowboys. I love novels with cowboys, with cowboys who rodeo or cowboys on ranches. Here we have both. Add to that an upset first love, a pastor’s son, a small town, a broken family, a super cute nephew … in short … all the ingredients to make me fall in love. And of course I fell for it. I devoured it. Loved loved loved. If I already liked the novels of this author a lot, I must say that the theme of this one puts it a step above.

I found everything I love in the author’s novels: the catchy pen; the characters very well worked, deep, touching without ever falling into clichés. The humor present in small touches that always fall at the right time. Feelings very well developed, always fair and never over the top. And that’s what I love most about this author. Modesty, the restraint of the characters but also the strength of their feelings, their actions, their character. They are intense. Whole. Deep. Extremely touching. But still fair.

Cal is just awesome. He’s a character that I adored. I got very attached to him and I really liked the fact that he also has faults and that Eli is there to make him realize that he does not have a monopoly on suffering. Beyond the love story between Eli and Cal it is also the love story between Cal and his hometown, its inhabitants. It is forgiving past mistakes, finding redemption but also forgiving.

I really liked the topics covered. I suffered with Cal, but I also felt a lot of emotions. Once again, Parker Saint John gives us a very good novel, a new series that promises to be as excellent as the previous one. Can’t wait for volume 2.
